Department Undergraduate Group (DUG)

The MCM Department Undergraduate Group (DUG) is a group of concentrators that plans events and activities intended to build a sense of community within the concentration.

Meet the DUGs!

    Daniel Zheng

Daniel Zheng is a senior from Hong Kong (and recently northern New Hampshire), studying MCM on the theory track and English literature. He is really interested in film studies, critical/literary theory, ecological thought, and loves the work of Leos Carax and Roberto Bolaño. He is currently writing a thesis on organic metaphors in Sergei Eisenstein and structural film, and is also an editor at the Indy, works at the archives here in MCM, and has been involved in the past with Brown Motion Pictures. In his free time, Daniel enjoy embarking on extremely convoluted cooking projects. Ask him about anything related to MCM (he's spent way too much time digging around the website and its archives…), theory/film/literature classes across Brown, getting involved with student filmmaking, or what buildings on campus have the best study spots!

    Gabriella Wrighten

Gabi Wrighten is a senior from Los Angeles. Gabi is concentrating in MCM on the theory track, English Nonfiction, and Literary Arts. She most interested in genre studies (largely horror and romance), African American cinema, and adaptation — and currently applying to grad school to study all this even more. Gabi is also one of the directors of Ivy Film Festival, a senior staff writer for the BDH, and on E-Board of Cooking Club. When she's not finding a new way to write about movies, she's probably watching baseball or baking cookies. Ask her anything about MCM/Lit Arts/English classes and professors, good clubs to join, writing on campus, or the best/worst horror movies of all time :)
